Bikaner has successfully seen entry in the Limca Book of Records by setting a new record in plantation by planting 105,000 saplings in 3 minutes and 50 seconds. The drive was initiated on 4th of August in 2008 in Gajsukhesar village of Nokha district in Bikaner by Mr.Shyam Sunder Jyani of Dungar college. More than 8,000 school children and over 6,000 villagers participated in the mass plantation drive organised with the objective of encouraging villagers to bring greenery to the desert state and think green amidst the current global warming circumstances. It has been a unique experiment that turned successful and has encouraged community participation at large.

The plantation area, covering 1200 Bigha of land looks no less than a paradise in between the desert region. Enthusiast villagers have been regularly watering the plants so as to see numerous trees in time to come.
